Letter from Kabul
Thank you so much. You gave me an excellent opportunity. You are like a light between darkness. No, I'm not 17 because today is my birthday, and I'm 18 now. So, I'm 18 years old. I'm from Afghanistan. I live with my family: my grandparents, my parents, and my brothers.
Oh, about me? I'm one of the beautiful online high school students living with some online high school students. And I'm happy that I have this opportunity. As I told you, we live in Kabul.
Because of the government, I had to stay home every day because we could not go out freely. Yeah, we can go outside. But if there is no school, there are no courses, so we cannot go out. So for this reason, I'm at home every time.
I also started teaching, and some organizations were voluntary, like the Book Awake organization and the Afghan-German online high school. I'm teaching Persian literature. So, I, some of my friends, and I created a free online high school for Afghan girls.
I also teach personal literature here.
Finding Living Wisdom School has an intense story. When the Taliban took over, I was so sad because I lost everything.
Then I decided to do it myself and thought, okay, so maybe I can't go to school. I can bring studying into my life. I can get the school into my life. I can do schooling online because nowadays we have technology. So, I started searching for international students at online high schools.
Fortunately, I found Living Wisdom Online High School. I then emailed Mr. Nitai, who was very kind to me. I'm happy I found this opportunity to meet Mr. Nitai, not in person but online
I had an interview with him, and my English could have been better. Right now, it's also not okay. But it was so bad during that time, but then he accepted me, and I was so happy.
There are not enough words to tell you about the beauty of this school.
Then I also introduced him to some of my friends, three of my friends, and he was kind to all of them. So then, I came to this school. I became part of this family, and I learned many things. There are not enough words to tell you about the beauty of this school.
The school is like light between dark. I was so sad. When I joined this school, I found myself again. I thought it was everything, my love, and anything because I lost everything. So, I could not achieve my dreams.
When I came to this school, I met many great teachers. The school has kind people who accept you without asking for money because I'm sitting here for free. No money was asked for, not even for the teachers. They are so kind to me. The first thing I learned from this school was that kindness is essential.
This school changed my life because, you know, I like poetry. I like poetry so much. The first time I was in school, we had a class called self-expression communication. You don't know my teacher, but his name is Dasha, and he's such a good, excellent teacher.
I'm waiting for your first poem.
I remember the first meeting I had in class. I told the teacher I liked poetry and wanted to write some poems, but I could not because my English was not good enough. And what he said? He said that no, that's okay. You can, you have to write, write. You don't have to obey their loss or anything. You write what is inside of your heart.
He always said in many classes, "I'm waiting for your first poem." And again, "I'm waiting for your first poem".
So then I wrote my poems, and he always helped me. For example, when I wrote my poems, I sent them to him, and he gave me feedback. Also, you know, he changed me. I thought to myself that my English could be better. I could write a beautiful poem, and then, right now, I write many poems in English, which helps me so much.
The school changed my mood. I hope you understand what I mean from negative to positive, darkness to light, disappointment to hope.
And so it's I. Again, words are not enough.
I like it so much. I told you I think of poetry and would like to know because I wrote a novel. Unfortunately, because of the government, I cannot publish it. Also, I wrote a poetry book in Persian rather than in English. Right? So I cannot publish it again. You know, because of our government, because of the Taliban government.
I want to publish them when I go outside, or the government will change, I mean the Afghanistan government.

I want to publish my books. I want to study astronomy. I like astronomy because stars are a reflection of God's power. So I like it, because, you know, at night, when I look at the stars. So, this is the reflection of God's power. Also, I like to know about them, what they are, and how they work. We can go and search on Google. But that's not enough. That's not sufficient. Because we have to, I would like to know more about stars.
All of you are like an angel.
So, I like my dreams to come true. Also, I want to help people just like Mr. Nitai, who is now my role model because he helps people, not just me. Last year, there was one Afghan student. Right now, there are six Afghani girls in the school. And this school is free. I think I would like to be like Mr. Nitai because he has become one of my role models right now.
I also like to become like Rumi because I like him, and he is one of my role models. I think you heard about him. He was from Balkh, our country, and lived in Konya, Turkey. He wrote many beautiful poems, and I like being like him.
Yes, thank you so much. All of you are like an angel. It is essential to know that you don't just focus on science in this school. You also focus on yourself and how to be. For example, our first homework assignment was: "What is your gift to the world?" In other schools, they didn't talk about that. "What is your gift to the world?" The school gave us a light. That is why we create; that is our gift to the world.
In Teacher Anita's class, students worked to find mentors for themselves; for example, my mentor was Rumi. We had an assignment like a heart circle; between the heart circle, you wrote what you felt and what you wanted and the side of the heart. You know, right? What is your what do you want? Or something like this?
We meditate before each class, for example, all of the classes. All of them are good because you know this, not just working on your knowledge. It also works like your personality, how you become a good person and a wonderful person. One of the most significant sentences teacher Mirabai has said is, What was that? Accept yourself because you were beautiful? What are you? It doesn't matter because you were beautiful accept yourself. So, I learned much from all of my teachers. For example, we have a subject. It's called World Religions. In this subject, we learn about religion and about respecting all faiths. It doesn't matter what religion we follow. All of us are humans. So we have to respect each other. We have to love each other.
Being a woman
When I am condemned for being a woman, I keep silent,When I am hurt by everyone, I keep silent,
I remain silent because I have no other choice.
When they don't consider me human, I keep silent.
But when I regain my strength again, I will no longer be silent,
When justice falls like rain, I will no longer be silent,
I will break my chains and hold you accountable
Your cruelty will cease, and justice remain,
I will no longer be silent.
Liberation
At the height of despair, when it rains,I close my eyes and go into meditation.
From difficult events, fear and pains
I step away from all emotions.
In my mind I leave behind the chains
Because I belong to the Love Nation!
The soul flies away and only the body remains
And that is the best possible situation.
When my disappointment is slain,
I reach liberation.
I Will Show You the World
Open your eyes to beautiesGet out of the mold
See all people with happiness
Don't linger with anyone cold
Everyone has lots of sadness
Deep wounds, new and old
Turn away from your darkness
I will show you the world
Talking to My Heart
my heart, don't crydon't ask me why
you tried your best to be free
you didn't succeed, don't be shy
I know you are chained today
but one day you will fly
I know they oppress you and others like you
but one day the tyrant will die
that day you will shine like the sun
and to all your misfortunes, you will say goodbye
Afghan Woman Singing
As an Afghan woman, I singFor the history of Aryan, I sing
To get rid of slavery, I sing
For shining like a diamond, I sing
For the feeling of beauty, I sing
For a country of Asia, I sing
To be strong in adversity, I sing
To live like a human, I sing
Math Poem
Math is like a riverThe language of nature
The mother of sciences
Which helps them to be better.
With x and y, sometimes known or unknown
Math is knowledge, an exciting adventure.
science of numbers with precise measures
Revealing the smaller and grander
Math is like a game for the brain.
Sharpening our minds with logic's treasure
Science of the functions, science of the limits
A symbol of beauty when we count creatures
Math gives you problems. You find the solution
Math is a subject rich in its features.
Math is God's chosen science like a diamond.
God in mathematical language
Like a mathematical model, you always give me one solutionI worship you with my heart, I obey you like a function
Your endless blessings are like an infinite graph
Your power is the exponent without limitation
You are aware of everything known and unknown
It's only for you that I pray and meditation
You are the hope that turns negative into positive
You are the love that flows in my emotions
You are the largest number beyond consciousness
You are the peace with which I reach liberation
